Good morning diverse romance readers! Today we had the chance to interview the characters from Tierra Cox’s latest release, Three’s A Crowd. You do not want to miss this exciting interview! Enjoy!
1. How did you two meet?
Seokjin winks. “I could say it was a long story but you’ll get more into that later. I felt her presence, Lia’s urge to do something she hadn’t before. Naughtiness, if that makes sense, and of course I always love to be where there’s a good time. So when she opened the grimoire, I couldn’t resist calling her.”
“I’ve never met a demon before,” Lia side-eyes Seokjin after his answer. “He’s right though, I was determined to prove myself, one thing led to another and the next thing I know there’s a half naked incubus in my room telling me to ‘seal the deal or die’. Not much choice there.”
2. Was it love at first sight or lust at first sight?
Tapping his bottom lip, Seokjin sighs. “I don’t do love.”
“Liar.” Lia scrunches up her face.
Seokjin: “Fine, lust, I wanted her body and that was it, I was content to play my role, but things became deeper than that, I fell harder and faster than I wanted to.”
Lia grunts. “It wasn’t either. He was handsome but I had other things and maybe people on my mind. I don’t fall like that.”
3. Between the two of you, which one is more romantic?
They point at each other and laugh before Seokjin drops his hand. “I’ve been around this block before, doesn’t matter if it was real or not. I know the game, but this time I’m playing for keeps. I take her on dates, bring her trinkets.” He looks at Lia and licks his lips slowly. “Do that thing that she likes all because I want to make her feel good.”
Lia covers her face speaking through her hands. “I’m horrible at romantic gestures. I think it’s because physical affection and time are my love languages. He’s all about words.”
4. Describe what you would consider the perfect date night.
“Oh, that’s easy.” Seokjin slaps his hands on his thighs. “Dancing and drinking at Dryad’s Grove, fucking in the car or in the shower at home, sleeping till one the next day.”
Lia rolls her eyes. “It would be nice if we could see a movie and have dinner, hold hands and walk in a park. I like to talk and reminisce, Seokjin has some pretty interesting stories from his paths through life. I like to hear him tell them.”
“You’ve never told me that.”
“You never asked.”
5. What do you love most about your partner?
This time Lia is the first to answer, reaching over she grasps Seokjin hand. “His eyes, they were the first thing I noticed about him. They change colors depending on his mood, pale pink when he’s happy, magenta when he’s irritated. The shape of them is beautiful like slender almonds. Other than physical, I love his honesty. Even if it will annoy me, Jin doesn’t hold back, I appreciate that.”
Seokjin grins, lifting one side of his mouth. “Her willingness to go above and beyond. Even if it places her in danger and vexes the hell out of me, Lia does what’s right. She’s the neutral good to my chaotic/neutral evil ways.”
6. Where do you both see yourself in five years?
“Doing what I am now,” Lia is firm in her answer. “I want to be stronger, faster, better at what I do. I want more recognition, but not on a worldly front. I want my grandmother to see me for the witch I am.
Seokjin is more laid back with his response. “Going where she does.”
7. If you could change one thing about your partner, what would it be?
“His attitude.” Lia chuckles earning a glare from Seokjin. “I love Jin but he can be overbearing, parental and jealous.”
“I am not!”
“You can be, I didn’t say it was all the time.” Lia pats his shoulder before continuing. “It can be stifling at times, I know he means well, but he can get like that.”
“Well you’re headstrong and reckless.” Crossing his arms, Seokjin leans back in his chair, his eyes flashing magenta. “She doesn’t think before she acts, she leaps and I’m the one who has to save her. Which is fine, I’m her familiar and I love her, but slashing and gutting my way through cave trolls to make sure she isn’t smashed like a plantain can be arduous.”
8. Do you believe love is forever?
“Define forever.” They duo speaks in unison smiling at each other.
“You have to understand,” Lia crosses her legs. “He’s a demon, he is immortal. Even if his mortal shell were to fail him, he just needs to regenerate. I’m a witch, I have a long time, but forever is not something in my cards.”
“Stop talking like that.” Jin shakes his head. “So long as she lives, so do I, my love will not end with her.”
9. In the bedroom, are you a giver or a taker?
“She’s a taker, but I’m a giver. It’s an equal balance. I prefer to give because I like to watch how she reacts. It’s a high for me.”
Lia nods in agreement.
10. What’s your wildest fantasy?
“We’ve probably done it.” Seokjin chuckles.
“Don’t be nasty.” Lia covers her grin.
“Well,” Seokjin clenches his jaw as he thinks. “I would like to make love in a topless tent under a bed of stars in the dead of night. It’s simple, just me and her. That’s something I miss. Quiet times together and being able to hold you with no interruptions.”
Lia takes her time to answer. “Honestly, he might be right and we have done it. Most witches are polyandrous, so we take more than one lover, or partner at a time. I’ve done that with Jin to wild abandon, now I couldn’t say what I would want to do, but you know something with a treehouse and erotic ashpyxiation sounds up my alley.”
Lia Babineaux hails from a long line of famed Babineaux witches known for their immense power and ability to wield various types of magick. Having lost both her mother and aunt at a young age, she is raised under a heavy thumb by her grandmother, Cecilia, who doesn’t want to lose Lia to the same fate that cost Lia’s mother her life.
However, like the witches that came before her, Lia has a curiosity about magick that is insatiable and which, in her opinion, her grandmother is taking too long to help her develop. That curiosity leads her to the Babineaux family grimoire, a spell book her abilities are nowhere near advanced enough to handle. Her amateur skills result in the rise of a demon, Seokjin, who bonds to her as her familiar; essentially the other half to her whole.
Seokjin and Lia become close as the years pass, facing every threat head on as a team and then, eventually, as lovers. Along the way, their teams grow to include more witches, a gargoyle, a Fae, and even a vampire. With a legacy of power behind her, Lia unravels the path to a mystery that could help her uncover the truth behind her mother and aunt’s deaths, and despite a secret Seokjin is forced to hide from the woman he loves.
Seokjin tried to temper his anger by clenching his jaw. “The way I feel about you is not reciprocated between us. He is not your familiar, I am! I know what you feel! You uselessly toss yourself into situa-tions and know I feel what you are! Does this mean nothing to you?”
“Close your heart to it.” Lia faced Seokjin. “Isn’t that what you told me in the beginning?”
Seokjin’s blood red eyes stared at Lia in defeat. “How can I close my heart to you when it’s yours?”
